This Daily Started off well,,hope it'll be NOT ended up what we got in Captain Smash & Bookworm! Smile
By d way, while Mandrake's face-art is still good,it's like Fred don't give any attention in other characters!! Sad Like Narda in d 1st & 3rd panels of today's strip,,,very loose art imho! Sad Evil or Very Mad

The artwork for the week of 12/29/08 to 01/03/09 is a significant improvement... The action is moving along much more briskly, too-- Mandrake goes from the plane straight into danger in just SIX DAYS-- good stuff!

This storyline has started off much more strongly than the previous tales. Thank you, Fred Fredericks! Cool

DITTO!! Art has been improved,,but I didn't like d idea that Mandrake went alone 2 visit CoM!!! In past,Lothar always had been d companion and their duo always make better as a script too!! Smile

Finally we get to meet Hey U. Seems like a cheery fellow - I'm guessing, however, that looks might be decieving. I'm enjoying the pace and mystery of this story. Smile

The Tourist, aka Hey U, last appeared, I believe, in the daily, "Space Glitch"

You can view/download that story (along with many others) in .pdf format here:

KFS needs to get a new artist for this, but that's probably not going to happen anyway.

Do any newspapers carry the strip at all any more?

Not sure about in print but quite a few newspapers carry it as part of the "Comics Kingdom" online package that KFS offers

Fred is 80 so I can understand his quality slipping - I wonder if the strip would continue if he retired

The recent artwork seems to have slipped back to being mediocre; poor attention to details, etc.

With a new Mandrake movie in development (starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers), I think KFS has an investment in keeping the strip going even after Fred retires.

This strip has been repeating itself for about two weeks. Get to the point!

does anybody keep tracking this strip??
I've stopped since long...being a hard-core Mandrake fan,I really feel frustrated in nowdays ordinary and pathetically slow-pace strips....even till 2007 we used to get good stories wid ok/good pace, but since then both stories and pace are in downfall!!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I rather happyly read and re-read all those Falk-Davis/Falk-Fredricks classics ...

 I wonder if...

A) Fred isn't at the top of his game due to his advancing age

or B) Assistants are being used

or maybe some of both
