I have just read this adventure in conjunction with No. 4, so I will be brief (my main review is in the Pt 4 thread).
I do NOT like chronicle stories, and this is no exception, but I enjoy both Mr. Saviuk's and Mr. Giordano's art. Their effort feels generally fresh and airy if that makes any sense, and so pushed up my vote to "Average" this time.

The artwork mustve looked a lot different in colour as it looked empty and lost in B&W. _________________ Germ

Possibly. I have not seen the b/w version of this, but in relation to another discussion we had recently about b/w versus colour, it seems that the latter won out in this case.

I would gladly do so, but I have no access to the comic. My Swedish Fantomen are being stored in Sweden until my arrival there in December (I cannot afford the subscriptions costs to England), so Ivan kindly let me access a scan.
I briefly forgot(!) that Frew is in b/w. I praised the colouring in part 4 of Phoenix as well. How did the art look in b/w?

I get a bunch sent to me now and then. Otherwise I rely on friends to provide me with scans.
I have often toyed with the idea of redirecting my subscription to England, but the cost is comparatively astronomical.
I can afford to order Moonstone books from the US as long as they are not issued to often, but with 26 Egmont issues per year, the import prices are too high.

In the "old days" I rememeber my mother bought one magazine, and traded the rest with other friends of her! That made it possible for them to have a "subscription" for 5 magazine going!
Today we lend comics as scans to our friends, and make it possible to follow the events in a lot of comics.
New ways same result!!

I don't mean to sound gross, but after looking at the picture of the cover, it looked in some way that the Phantom was holding his manhood, as that is about the right angle, and the pistol being an object shaped like that, it was just the way he was holding it and where, as in in front of his trunks, that slightly put me off that cover.
Now I'm not gay, or anything, but that is the impression that I got when I looked at it. Now I don't want to start a cat fight over it, but that was just my impression, and nothing more. I just think that the could have moved the gun a bit more away from his body, or his arms a bit more upwards, away from his body to give a different look, and still be as menacing.
Sorry if I have grossed out anyone or upset anyone, just that when I saw that, that is what I first thought. _________________ Phantom Rabbitoh. The ghost who supports South Sydney Rabbitohs. Team who cannot die. |

This I have missed in my otherwise careful and attentive breakdown of this issue.
I will revisit the cover and direct my glance in the area you suggest.
