This is a great story in my opinion.
Tell me what you thought of it and if you can suggest any other old issues that reveal things about the past Phantoms. I recently became the owner of a large collection ranging from the #600s-#900s, so if you know any good stories from that vintage... |

Yes, a very good story. While reading it, however, I thought the phantom should have told his wife where he is going and what he plans to do when he went with the Bandar chief to train. He just went with the bandar chief without telling his wife anything. The poor women would have suffered great mental agony. And the next time she saw her husband, he died fighting the singh pirate.
Couldn’t really fathom what was the problem in phantom staying at skull cave and training for his upcoming fight with the singh pirate there? I don’t think his wife would have objected.
Still, a very good story, and if you get the chance, read it in colour. I seriously doubt that frew’s b/w presentation could have done justice to the story’s overall effect. I have the story in Egmont Imagination’s special double issue, the paper they have used is really glossy, and the colours just jump out of the pages. The final sword fight scene between phantom and singh pirate, yes, that’s something one should see in colour and on glossy paper. _________________ They could put me in a helicopter & fly me up into the air & line the bodies head to toe on the ground in delightful geometric patterns………….

Yeh i would definitley like to read it in colour, however i enjoy the b/w because in my mind it makes the Phantom somewhat unique (it also keeps the price down ). The scene at the end when the Phantom fight Ashar is quite strage, mostly because Ashar is killed by a giant squid (which look more like an octopus than a squid). I understand why the Phantom had to train in the Crow's Nest as he was suffering physically and mentally himself. His wife wouldve tried to stop him if she knew what he was doing. |

I agree on that color part,as I'd read it from EGMONT(INDIA)'s 1st series(2000) allthough the pages weren't glossy which were present in later series! So eventhough I've the colored version, still willing to read it on glossy pages...like some other Egmont stories!

PS - I'd TIGER GIRL(Felmang version) from 2000 series and always willing to read on glossy pages which happned just few weeks earlier when I got that glossy-book from 2-in-1 series!! |

Good to hear that.
Are Euro Kids 2-in-1 series books still easily available in Kolkata bookshops?? They seem to have disappeared from bookshops of my city.
Also, these was some talk about Euro Kids releasing a new Phantom book towards the end of the year. Now that the year is almost gone, any news from Euro Kids front that you know of? Or were these just rumours? _________________ They could put me in a helicopter & fly me up into the air & line the bodies head to toe on the ground in delightful geometric patterns………….

I've 1 of EURO BOOK's 6-in-1 Phantom book, filled with same titles already published,AND BELIVE ME the page quality as well as the art-quality both are pretty ordinary!! By "art quality" i mean they had tried to publish high-res version by enlarging original size and hence images are bit blurry.....and I got all these @450 INR!!!
And no,I've no idea bout their any NEW releases(Egmont stories) but if happen,by any Indian publisher,it'll be good thing!!

Resizing images…. Selling blurry images & so-so quality pages for a stupefying Rs. 450!!!!!!! It’s daylight robbery.
Just can’t fathom, instead of carrying out all such tomfooleries & lunacies, why can’t they just approach Moonstone or Egmont to buy new stories.
This publisher has made Phantom something of a joke. _________________ They could put me in a helicopter & fly me up into the air & line the bodies head to toe on the ground in delightful geometric patterns………….
