This story appeared in Indrajal Comics in 1990 as the "Secret Invention"(Vol.27 No.7)
About the plot,it was about a revolutionary invention by Prof.Ghagah who invented a device which can transmitted solid matters from one place to another, through a wire(or even without it!).He showed his secret invention to Mandrake when he and Lothar visited Harison University for a show!
However, later that prof. was kidnapped by enemy-agent and story evolved how the magician rescued him....

Any comments?? I have read this story first time way back in 1990. Allthough I think the original plot(of matter mover) was presented in a ol' Mandrake strip('40s??)....I can't recall the strip title(or #!) though.... Sad

T
PS - It was, eventually, the Last Mandrake story ever appeared in Indrajal and that's why I've choosed this one, allthough plot-wise it may not be in TOP CHART imho.... Cool

It may sound perplexing to you, timpa, but I am unable to recall this story completely, Embarassed Embarassed and hence find it difficult to comment on it. Mainly, what I don’t remember now is how mandrake and lother rescued the professor. You see, I have read this story just once, when indrajaal published it, i.e. in 1990. then that issue was kept somewhere and till date I have not re-read it. In case you are wondering why I can’t just pick up that indrajaal issue right now and re-read it, trouble is, in my house, it’s not like all those hundreds and thousands of comics are at one place, it’s more like 50 comics are in that wardrobe, another 100 in that trunk, another maybe 200 in a carton placed over a loft, and so on. So searching a single issue after years of last seeing it is not that simple. If this mandrake story has been scanned and available on the net, just provide a link to the page, I will download that indrajaal and re-read it and then comment on the story. Embarassed Embarassed

I owuld love to discuss Mandrkae with you Timpa, the only problems is that I only have about 7 or 8 Mandrake stories and am currently way behind in my reading of the strips (both Mandrake & Phantom).

Aaaaaaarrrrr....... I was actually under the impression that this particular issue is not available on any Indrajaal blog, which is perplexing, no doubt, for this is a historical Indrajaal issue, one worth safe-keeping for all times to come, the great magician's last appearance in Indrajaal. But I have visited many Indrajaal blogs over the years, never came across this issue on any one of them. Last time I checked, it was neither available on YOUR blog, nor on Prabhat's blog. Since you claim that EVERY Indrajaal Mandrake is now availble online, I must be missing this one.
I request you to kindly "private message" me providing the link to this special issue. If it's available on your blog, I am sorry, I have visited it countless times, never came across this issue. Embarassed

Thanks a million, Timpa, You’re simply great Very Happy

Yes, now even I am shocked how I missed this. I have visited this blog so many times, yet just missed this one completely. Shocked Shocked

However, reading this story again AFTER 19 YEARS has made me nostalgic. It seems just like yesterday when I waited every week (or every fortnight) for a new Indrajaal, PLUS around 10 new Diamonds every month PLUS new Amar Chitra Katha every fortnight PLUS Nagraaj and Dhruv. Well, how times fly. Smile

Coming back to this particular story, it’s just an out-and-out fun story, with a real funny character in Prof. Ghagha (I even found Prof. Lattimore quite a jolly fellow). But Prof. Ghagha really makes you laugh while reading the story, whether it’s telling his kidnappers that they have “foul breaths”, or offering then five dollars, or telling them the recipe of his special spaghetti sauce. A real witty fellow, this prof. Laughing Laughing

Also, not to be missed in this story is the statue of KIT WALKER in Harrison University. A real stylish moment, that. Cool Cool

The minus point of the story. Well, today I hate to criticize anything that appeared in indrajaal or diamond, but the story has a minus point, and it’s the bane of not just this, but too many mandrake stories, that there is no real challenge for the magician, he faces no real danger. In this one, just as he has done countless times, mandrake broadcasts his thoughts telepathically, locates the prof and saves the day. the story could have done with some more excitement.
Also, cover is nothing to look at, with mandrake hypnotizing a giant octopus. We have seen infinitely better from indrajaal.
Still, a real fun read, with Prof Ghagah really shining.

Also, when I saw this brand new indrajaal issue for the first time, I had no idea that this is last mandrake from indrajaal, so yes, I have a soft corner for this particular issue.

Well, apart from the VERY FACT that it's the LAST Mandrake-Indrajal(& 2nd last Indrajal) ever published, this story really not that special!! Sad well,it started off quite nicely, with that re-cap of Madam Sir-See(Vol.27 No.4) or that concept of matter-Mover,but,as you said,it has quite an ordinary finishing....unlike those tales, where mandrake/Lothar were REALLY under trouble(closest example is MADAM SIR-SEE story!)

Cover was really bad(or ordinary) with so much place left colorless(low costing?) and an out-of-story illustration on it!! However, like you I'd also NO IDEA that it'll be the LAST Ijc-MTM ever and when accidentally I lost it VERY NEXT DAY I bought from my seller(in April 1990),I felt sad a little(that time,I never liked this tale),also that loss meant dad will buy few MORE comics as replacement:wink:

BUT NOW!! I'm so sorry to loose this AND NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO BUY FROM MY SELLERS...... Sad

Rest assured, I will do that, and will keep doing that consistently. And I intend to talk first about those Mandrake tales that Indrajaal published.
With DIWALI just two days away, it’s really kind of hectic at home right now. But you will see a new thread by me on mandrake forum very soon.
